报告题目：A result related to De Giorgi's conjectures concerning second-order elliptic equations and its applications to a natural network formation model

报告摘要：In 1995, De Giorgi gave a lecture in Lecce, Italy on the continuity of weak solutions to second-order elliptic equations of the form

He conjectured about how singular and/or degenerate the coefficient matrix A=A(x）could be allowed to be in order to retain the continuity of weak solutions. We will focus on a special case of the conjectures and find that the answer is positive in the case. An application of this result to a natural network formation model will also be presented.

报告人简介：许祥胜，美国密西西比州立大学教授。1982年毕业于南京大学，1988年获得德克萨斯大学奥斯汀数学博士学位。1998年作为访问副教授访问了西北大学，2002年作为访问教授访问了罗格斯大学，2015年作为高级研究科学家访问了杜克大学。 在热敏电阻问题、晶体表面生长等领域研究中取得了许多重要的研究成果。
